Offices

Target

With the return to 'normality', after the period of confinement forced by Covid-19, AER's managers were clear about the need to incorporate a hybrid model, alternating the 'home office' with a presence in the office.

A new way of understanding work, more in line with the needs of employees and society, through a flexible space that would allow the team to choose where to work from at any given moment and the company to save on rent, as less space is needed than with the 100% face-to-face work model.

Solution

To respond to the flexibility desired by the company, the architecture studio founded and led by architect Miguel Angel Gutiérrez, Punta Terra Arquitectura, has designed dynamic offices that adapt to a constantly changing work model, with only one space, the one assigned to the director, fixed and private, and the rest occupied by unassigned workstations so that everyone can choose where to work at any given moment.

Large communal work tables, more private desks or high bars, which encourage collaboration and allow the team to work seated on stools or standing while maintaining the same visual height with the rest of the colleagues, are some of the proposals of the new space. In addition to meeting rooms of different sizes and configurations, soundproof booths to call without disturbing or being disturbed, areas with armchairs that add a domestic touch and a cafeteria for informal meetings and relaxation.

Actiu has participated in the creation of a space that moves away from the serious and rigid character associated with traditional offices, and instead stimulates well-being, creativity and the workers' sense of belonging to the company, with programmes such as the Stay operative chair, chosen for its great versatility and freedom of movement; the Urban chair, stackable and with wheels for greater mobility; the warm and welcoming Noom 30 armchair, which enhances comfort and a sense of belonging; or the Whass stool, with an ergonomic and organic design that adapts to any space.

Fundamental in this type of open-plan space, acoustic comfort is enhanced through the use of absorbent materials such as wood, materialised in a lattice that also operates as a decorative element and hallmark of the project; upholstery or rugs.
